Moses suffers hamstring injury as Palace shock Chelsea

Chelsea wing back and Super Eagles attacking midfielder, Victor Moses was forced out with a suspected hamstring injury as Crystal Palace recorded their first win of the season with a 2-1 defeat of the English Premier League defending champions at Selhurst Park yesterday.

Victor Moses Moses has started six of Chelsea’s eight Premier League matches this term, after becoming a fixture in the Blues line-up during their title-winning campaign last season. It is feared that he will be out for as much as six weeks. And that could rule him out of the World Cup qualification game against Algeria next month.

Chelsea coach Antonio Conte already has Alvaro Morata, Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kanteon the injury list. In yesterday’s game Wilfried Zaha, who was making his first appearance for the Eagles since suffering an injury on the opening day of the season, gave Chelsea much to chew as his shot at goal bounced off Cesar Azpilicueta for the first goal of the match, which was also Crystal Palace’s first goal of the season.

Tiemoue Bakayoko cancelled out Palace’s opener, but a short while after Moses was forced from the field, Palace went in front again. Zaha  fired Roy Hodgson’s men back in front to give Conte plenty to think about at half-time. And Conte says Chelsea needed to show more fight against Palace.

“It was a difficult game for us. Our start was poor,” he said. “We had to start with more personality. “Despite this we have to find the will to fight. “This season we have to put 150 per cent because it will be difficult. “Balance is very important if you want to win, and today our balance was poor. “They played with great intensity and will to fight.” Speaking on the Moses injury Conte said:  ‘’I think this moment for us  is a very difficult moment.

When you start the game without Morata and Kante it is not simple. ‘’Then another important player gets an injury like Moses. I hope to have him very soon, in this moment it is very difficult for us. We lose three or four players and it is a big problem for us. ‘’ Conte added : ‘’For sure Moses, I don’t know if his injury is a serious injury. Drinkwater is still out. I hope to have Morata back.’’
